ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am not a person who can sit still for any length of time.
I thrive in a medium where change is at the root of the creative endeavor.
As a live composer I look for as much variation and change as possible.
If I repeat ideas too often I become bored with myself.
When composing using Soundpainting I work with what I know will happen and what
I least expect to happen. This is what excites me as an artist.
It gives me nightmares to think about making art where I always know what
I’m going to do and, even worse, do it in such a way that it fits in to a
specific category or genre in order to please my constituents and the public.
I believe if I am honest, then that’s all is needed.
